St. Clair Honors Veterans !
We at St. Clair Winery and Bistro will proudly be honoring all U.S. veterans and active duty military this Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11. Veterans and current servicemen and women are invited to enjoy a complimentary meal from a specially selected Veterans Day menu. All three St. Clair Winery and Bistro locations in Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Farmington are taking part in what has become an annual tradition to show appreciation to those who’ve sacrificed so much.
“Veterans selflessly serve our country and we are proud to be able to provide this small token of appreciation by serving them,” commented Wayne Moore, Director of Bistro Operations. “Honoring our Veterans means a lot to us, we are so grateful and honored to be a part of this.”
This year commemorates the fourth consecutive year for the program, since honoring Veterans with a free meal for the first time in 2014. Last year, St. Clair was able to treat over 500 veterans and active duty military to a complimentary meal and also surprised them with an additional $10 voucher to use on a future visit.
Veterans are invited to choose from a select menu that features a hearty taste of home. The options of Southwest Meatloaf, Chicken Picado, Country Pot Roast and other local favorites like Pasta New Mexico and Isabelle’s Chicken Salad will be offered to veterans dining-in between 11 am and 9 pm on Saturday, November 11. Alcohol and gratuity are not included. Mark your calendar and join us in raising a glass to the brave men and women of our armed forces!
Servicemen and women can claim their complimentary meal by simply presenting proof of service, such as: U.S. Uniformed Services ID Card, U.S. Uniformed Services Retired ID Card, current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD214), veteran organization card or by proudly wearing their uniform.

Event benefits local non-profit, Cancer Support of Deming.
(DEMING, NM) — We are pleased to announce our 23rd annual Winefest, benefiting Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County. Festivities will begin on Saturday, September 30th from 12:00-9:00 pm and continue on Sunday, October 1st from 12:00-6:00 pm. Enjoy a large selection of food vendors on-site as well as arts & crafts vendors, upbeat live music and dancing, a silent auction, tours, fun activities for the kids and a wide selection of local New Mexico craft beer and fine wines for sipping and sampling. Admission at the gate is $5 and includes a complimentary wine glass and tasting tickets. Free admission is offered to all active-duty military and law enforcement.
We will donate all proceeds from admission, ribbon donations, vendor fees and silent auction to the local non-profit, Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County, Inc. for the seventh year in a row. Last year’s donation was a substantial $5,433 which helped offset the cost of travel for many local cancer patients who often attend treatments many miles away.
“We’re motivated to make Winefest the biggest entertainment event in Deming,” said Lora Robinson, Tasting Room Manager. “We’re proud we’re able to use the event to support this great, local cause.”
“In order to make this the biggest and best Winefest we’ve ever had, we’ve worked to secure many more additional food vendors, the best local bands, more activities for the kids, and are expanding our beer selection to include more local favorites,” explained Robert Duran, Director of Winery Operations. “The goal is to provide the best event possible for the community, who graciously lend their support every year.”

Moscato wine (sometimes spelled as Muscato), comes from the Muscat grape. The Muscat family of grapes include over 200 grape varieties belonging to the Vitis vinifera species that have been used in wine production and as raisin and table grapes around the globe for many centuries. Their colors range from white, to yellow, to pink to near black. Muscat grapes and wines almost always have a pronounced sweet floral aroma. Riesling wines, not unlike most other white wines, are often consumed when young. In wine making, the delicate nature of the Riesling grape requires special handling during harvesting to avoid crushing or bruising the skin. Riesling is often put through a process of cold stabilization, where the wine is stored just above its freezing point. The wine is kept at this temperature until much of the tartaric acid has crystallized and precipitated out of the wine. This helps prevent crystallization of the acid (often called wine diamonds) in the bottle. After this, the wine is filtered again to remove any remaining yeast or impurities.

DEMING – Rain or shine, Deming Animal Guardians held another successful Yappy Hour fundraiser hosted by St. Clair Winery in Deming this past weekend. Rain didn’t end up being a problem since St. Clair Winery offered its indoor tasting and event center.
“There was a little indoor dancing, pledging and shopping and a little outdoor visiting and tasting happening. It worked out perfectly.” says event coordinator Debbie Troyer.
The event brought in just under $1,400 to help support DAG’s no-kill rescues and spay/neuter programs. Money was raised through pledges taken in a contest that bid Crystal Pena of HELP-NM against Will Jansen of Mimbres Hospital. Each competed for a $100 prize to be given to their charity of choice. Congratulations to the winner, Crystal Pena, for playing along in her kitty costume and raising funds for Luna County’s Early Childhood Coalition.
St. Clair Winery donated use of their spacious indoor special event center as well as $1 for every glass of wine/beer sold, vendors sold beautiful oil and acrylic paintings, hand cut stone jewelry, candles and engravings. Faces were decorated by Megan Lemcke, dancing was provided by EnJ Entertainment and everyone was entertained by the always fun MC Greg Morrow. Belle Pacheco gave away $200 GoodLife VIP gift cards.
“It’s not easy to bring these events together, but the support from our community and volunteers always amazes me. We have a great time at our fundraisers,” Troyer said.
DAG invites you to follow them on Facebook to keep up on all the upcoming and fun events. Next up, “Bowling for Fur-Balls” on August 12 at the Starmax Bowling Center, 333 N. Country Club Road. This will be a No-Tap Tournament for all ages. There will be a Blu-Ray DVD Player raffle, door prizes, music and handmade awards.

Teacher Appreciation Week at St. Clair Winery
It’s been said that teaching is the single most important profession, and we agree. We at St. Clair Winery in Deming have planned a week-long event to pay tribute to teachers in the local community and surrounding area.
“It’s a labor of love.” noted Tasting Room Manager, Lora Robinson. “I know teachers in the community and they all put their heart and soul into what they do, this is just a small thank you.”
It’s not an easy job—with long hours, always changing standards, and stressful evaluations. But educators all over the nation overcome these challenges and make a difference in people’s lives.
“I remember arriving to New Mexico at eleven years old,” recollects Proprietor, Florent Lescombes. “I didn’t know a single bit of English—and there I was, enrolled into Mrs. Saunder’s fifth grade class at Alameda Elementary. It was such a supportive environment, within months I was well on my way.”

Based on the ‘Kir Imperiale’, a raspberry-flavored drink first made popular in the late 1800s, we decided to put a soda shop twist on this old-world classic.
